xmas season

i've just looked thru my blog ideas list that i keep on my SuperPhone, and they are all pretty much outdated and wouldn't be funny at this juncture. the list goes back a few weeks, so i'm back to my bi-monthly blogging schedule, sorry to my fans... (just humor me).

well, one is worth mentioning. i went down to Llywelyn's in soulard to see Side Of 5's, they played an all acoustic show there, it was awesome! i will be going to see them again, let me know if anyone wants to go.

thanks to everyone who sent me a christmas card, i'll have to start doing that one of these years. thanks to Santa who got me a new digital camera (well, i had to go buy and pay for it myself, but it's the thought that counts, high 5 big guy). it's Exactly the one i wanted too!! i did get two unexpected gifts, and that was very cool.

if anyone is still looking for a last minute gift idea, or you're an Extremely early shopper for next christmas, think RapSnacks!!! the official snack of hip hop! try the virtual vending machine on their website, there are several different flavah's and rap personalities to choose from, Yo. one of my friends found this empty bag in a bus stop downtown, so i can't comment on the tasty-ness of them, but it smelled delicious! well, after filtering out the downtown bus stop smell.

so, my vacation is going pretty good. i'm extremely bored already, i have plenty to do, i'm just not motivated to finish any of my existing projects or start any new ones. the one i keep putting off is making new curtains for my bedroom and bathroom windows, i've bought all the materials, just need to measure and sew them up. i may start on them today. i have accomplished something so far, i nursed a nasty sickly virus ridden computer back to full health, Shhh, it's sitting in it's oxygen tent defragging. it no longer needs a router condom, i was having to take all of my stuff offline when it needed to be online. i'm half way finished loading software onto my new one. so i've got computer parts all over the place, oh, is it a geek paradise in this room or what?

xmas lights cont.

so, the lights are all done. well, i have to get up there and change some stuff around after the ice melts, but that's no biggie.

hope you can see the picture, it's kinda dark. 1000 new sparkling lights, the new strings were a bit longer than the old ones, so i wrapped the column by the front door.

so nobody has read these new postings? or have no comments? maybe you're waiting for another 2 weeks to go by before you check in.... i dunno
oh well, i'm off to grill up a few burgers.

xmas lights

i got half of my xmas lights up today, i'll finish the rest tomorrow. i joined dave's mountain man grilling team tonight by grilling a couple of chicken breasts out in the snow. they were fantastic with a baked potatoe. i only almost fell off the roof twice, the roof on the front of the house is still covered with ice, so i had to work the slow way on my magic folding extension ladder on some parts. i actually brought a shovel up and tried shoveling the roof, wasn't working so well. but i could walk on the very edges where it has melted. i'll try to get a pic when it's finished.

been busy

hi all, sorry it's been so long since i've blogged. i've been absolutely swamped at work. today, we finally printed the last big school job we we've been working on. so i get to start a fun project tomorrow, it's a renovation of some labs in a mizzou science building. we're going to be using Revit Systems on this project, it's our first time using it on a real job. we normally use AutoCAD, which has been the drafting software of choice for a long time. this is an all new way of doing everything, it's gonna rock! yeah! high five with your most bad ass pocket protector on!

went to the hockey game last night, they retired Brett Hull's #16 sweater up into the rafters. there was a big ceremony with players and coaches from his past, it was really cool. then detroit kicked the ever living shit out of us in the game... go figure.

finished decorating the xmas tree tonight, well, as much decoration as it's getting this year. it's kinda plain, so it matches the rest of the decor. i just have to wait for the ice to melt off of the roof so i can put up my new exterior lights. i plugged in the old ones and there were more out than were actually lit... so i threw the whole mess out. they lasted me 4 years, i got my money's worth out of them.

oh, new band to watch for, Flyleaf !!! they rock!!!

also in music, i went down to the original Twister's in imperial last friday to see some friends' of mine's final gig ( three times fast ). it was a great show! yes, i skipped work because of the snow/ice, but went out that night, sue me...

Saturday night out at Bill's, went sledding on a rail sled being pulled by a 4-wheeler at about 20 mph!!! that was awesome! then there was the pole dancing... but that's another story

NE !!!!

credit card update

ahh, the feeling of having money (only the feeling part applies, not so much the having part) my brand new shiny credit card finallly showed up Saturday... (nice 7 to 10 (read 14) days to get it). so i'm gonna go buy stuff for my halloween costume and house decorations on it tonight... i've gotta out-do my neighbors spooky blinking bats... it's scary over there. so i'm off to lowe's, then to fight thru the wal-mart hoosiers (i say that like i'm not one of them... well, we just don't tell anybody) okay? okay!
happy birthday to me...

the future

i wonder what the future generations will think of our times... think of how we talk about our close ancestors. the cave men hunted with sticks and rocks, and didn't even have e-mail. the people that explored and settled in america used cap and ball guns, and didn't have electricity. schools in the future will look back at us and scoff, they used to think Pluto was a Planet, and that Clay Aiken might be hetero... it'll be funny how we used to use Gasoline to get around, and that we actually had to Leave our houses...
oh well, we can only work with the technology that we have...

credit card

so, tuesday night when i get home, there's a message on my machine. it's some lady from capital one (currently in my wallet), she's from the fraud department, wants me to call about some questionable purchases. i call the number, and it's some stupid lady with worse ebonics than flavor flav, AXE'ing me for all this information. i asked her how i would know if she was actually a scammer herself, and she didn't really have a good answer. so i hung up and called the actual number on the back of the card. so i get thru to someone who speaks better english, she's from india, mind you, but she at least sounds intelligent. turns out there are 2 transactions form over the weekend that they denied, something from aol g-shop for $100, and something from kennith cold for $350... somebody's got my shit!!! so they went thru all the recent transactions, and these are the only 2 that aren't mine. they froze the account and cancelled the number, i'll get a new card with a new number in 7 to 10 days. hope i don't have to buy anything, i almost stuck it in the gas pump tonight, but remembered to use my bank debit card instead. scary stuff, good thing i have those barbarians from capital one following me around!! i'm going to call them back and see what kind of info i can get out of them... who it was, where they are, how they got my info.. if it was something i did, or didn't do, that i need to stop or start so this doesn't happen again... i don't know what all they can tell me though. oh well, i'm tired, seeya

things on my mind...

does it bother anyone else?? that the theme song in the KENTUCKY Fried Chicken commercials is Sweet Home ALABAMA?????
and another thing that's bothering me... you people that follow sports as deeply as i do, know that in baseball, the magic number, is some combination of wins and losses that is used to calculate a percentage of something or other, blah blah..... so i keep hearing during the sports news about the cardinal's magic number, and how it keeps moving around... i have just one thing to say to these people... they should have watched more saturday morning cartoons than sports...
"Three is the magic number!!!"
have you heard the Blind Melon version??? rock!

yard work

ran the cat down to the vet this afternoon for his checkup visit... all symptoms are fine now, except he's got no appetite. i've been coaxing him to eat by feeding him tuna, then mixing tuna in with his food, so he's eating more now, he just won't go eat on his own though.
so i get back from the vet, and i'm getting ready to cut the grass, and it starts raining, i was talking to my neighbor, and said screw it, i'm gonna cut it in the rain, so i went in and changed, when i came back out, it was sunny... lasted till just now when i finished, and it's starting to rain again.
i put down some patch-master grass seed on my yard's bald spots. i wish that Scott's made Hair seed and fertilizer... so i'm trying to not have my lawn match the top of my head, hopefully we'll get alot of rain this week and it'll germinate really well and fill in...
if only i could spend the amount of time and care Dave gives his lawn, mine could look like the fairway too...

workless

well, so much for getting any work done tonight. i can't log into my vpn at work... so i can't get to my drawings and files... so i'll have to fix it tomorrow, so i can work this weekend, maybe i'll go in early-er... good thing my IT guys have me to do their job for them... good thing is that tomorrow's my boss's birthday, and one of the other electrical guys is bringing in donuts!!!
grumble... guess i'll play some guitar... perhaps i'll learn some scorpions, that's what i'm listening to now

oliver the cat

Oliver, the Six Million Dollar cat, had to go to the vet today, because he's been sick. He had the sneezes last weekend, but they went away, then yesterday he got worse, he had even less energy than normal, and wasn't eating... So i took him in this afternoon, got a whole gamut of tests run, came home and cut the grass, then went back to pick him up. So, $241.36 later, they're not exactly sure what he's got, hopefully just an infection, he's running a fever, that's about all the conclusive evidence there is of being sick. I've got a weeks worth of antibiotics to give him (fun, he loves pills) and we'll see how he's doing after that. He's lucky i like him, he was almost totaled today... $241 is way more than his blue book value...

caught !!!

Oliver the cat, isn't supposed to be on the dining room table, as a general rule. well, i had just finished cutting the grass, and i walk in the front door and hear "Umph" like the cat does when he jumps down from somewhere... so he comes up running, rubbing my sweaty grass stickin to leg, purring... the dining room table and i have parted ways recently, so i replaced it with my cheesy little card table, it's black with a poofy fake vinyl top and black chairs... so, i look over and see 4 little feet prints unsinking as the foam stretches back up... i looked at the cat and said "Caught Ya! The proof, my friend, is in the Padding". not that he cared, he'll be up there next time i walk thru the room, or in his favorite round chair, working on his memoirs.

energy

Someone says: yanno, it takes more energy to frown than it does to smile...
Reply: yeah, yanno it takes more energy to point that out than it does to leave me alone...

flea market

i went out to the wentzville flea market this morning, i asked around, and there's still nobody selling fleas... i was looking for things to hang on my walls, trying to replenish the house. a bunch of the booths had closed up because it was drizzling a little.. i was noticing that most of the women there had more tattoos than teeth, and had a brilliant idea. why not have a booth that sells new and used bra's!! most everyone there could have used one, even some of the men. perhaps give a few away, to the "biggest" offender of the hour... there wasn't anything worth buying, redecorating mission failed. i'll try again when there's nicer weather.

float trip

another Great float trip!!! had a blasty!!! got home, vacuumed out the minivan, set up the tent in the driveway, and hosed it and the tarps out, cleaned and put away the coolers, i broke the open button on my playmate cooler, so i'll have to fix that later. the van is airing out and the tent is drying in the sun, yanno that horrid death smell of dirty river water festering in the coolers and float clothes... yeah, awesome. got showered and got laundry running, i'll roll up the tent in a little while, i'm pretty tired. ta ta for now...

friday evening, heading out for the DrunkFest Float Trip, we picked up Mindy, and stopped to fill up the minivan with gas and get ice. well, i hit the "pay inside" button, filled the big-ass tank, went in and told the geek that i was on pump #1, and i needed 5 bags of gas and a powerball ticket..... Bags of Gas?!?!?! he says... i told him Yes, better make them waterproof bags...

windows are all installed

i finished the kitchen window and the whole bay window sunday, started at 7:00am, and finished cleaning up at 8:30pm, Bill and Big Paul helped me... they look awesome!! (the windows that is) i still need to put the sills and interior trim wood on them. i can't figure out how to put pics on here, so you'll have to take my word for it, or come by and see them.

windows

well, it's the end of day 2 of window weekend. Bill helped me, and show me how to remove the old ones and install the new master bedroom and master bathroom windows. today, my dad and nichole's father helped me do the two front bedroom windows. i picked the hottest 2 days of the year to be doing this.. idiot... i'm completely exhausted, and my back is dark red from the sun. i almost had a big injury, i came down off the ladder, and stepped on a board with a 3" nail sticking out of it. my shoe stuck on it for a half second, and then it pierced and sunk in way deep. i yelled and thought for sure i punctured my foot, sat down and pulled the nail about an inch and a quarter of the nail out of my shoe, still dreading... pulled off my shoe and sock, and all it did was scratch my big toe, it went right up between my toes. scariest part of it all, was that the toe that it rode up between, was The toe, the one i keep breaking... so, i've still got the kitchen window and the whole bay window to replace, might be wednesday, not sure, i'll need more people to handle the bay window, the middle piece is one continuous piece 8 feet wide. well, i'm going to go make something for dinner, sit and watch a movie, and pick the caulking off of my fingers.

the wreck

so, saturday morning, i'm on my way home, stopped first in line at the light at mexico and hwy K, in the left going straight lane. a car (we'll call it Car A) pulls up and stops on my left, in the right left turn lane. everyone following along? got the picture? when all of a sudden, BANG, some blonde ditz (we'll call her car B) hits car A next to me, not very hard, but enough to do some minor damage. Lady A gets out and starts walking back to see the damage. Ditz B is now going to attempt to help lady A see the damage, and proceeds backing up..... HONK.... BANG. yup, she hit the pick-up truck that had pulled up and stopped behind her (truck C, for those keeping track)
what a fuckin idiot

father's day

bless me father, it's been quite a while since my last blog entry...
well, it's father's day, which we're hosting at our house this year. i've had a big estrogen fest so far this weekend, after cutting the grass, i swiffer dusted everything (not as orgasmic as the commercial makes it look), sponge mopped and swiffered all the floors, vacuumed all the carpets, and cleaned both bathrooms extensively. i still have to make the shrimp marinade, and figure out what i'm going to do with the steaks, a dry rub perhaps.. i dunno yet. then it'll be about time to fire up the mega grill. i'll try to squeeze in a minute to relax for father's day if i get a chance.
happy father's day you mothers!

ice cream man

sunday as i was hanging the new screen door on my new back door, i hear the ice cream man's van coming around in the next court over. oddly enough, the song it's playing is La Cucaracha (the cockroach in spanish)... sing along with me...
La Cucaracha, La Cucaracha... scurries up and scurries down...
La Cucaracha, La Cucaracha... come eat an overpriced treat from my dirty bug infested work van...

nails

So this new dickweed that sits in the cubicle next to me at work is trimming his fingernails this morning for about 43 minutes... ANNOYING.... Who doesn't have time to do that at home? Or can't it just wait a few days until you get time?? Maybe my nails just aren't that pressing of an issue to me...

my broken toe

As some of you know, i broke my left pointer toe (the one next to the big toe, duh) last year playing in a full contact, deathmatch, wiffle ball battle match extreme. The very next weekend, as it was healing, i broke the same toe again, well, my cat, Oliver, broke it. How TUFF do i sound?? Anyways, it's been slowly healing ever since, i've been taking it easy on it, only playing "bar sports" pool, darts, foosball... where i can only hurt my liver, and maybe get an eye poked out... Anyways, i go in today to see Dr. Mike to get cracked, and we started Physical Therapy on my toe tonight. He starts pulling and bending on it like it were a normal person's toe. I kept expecting to hear it break again and yell out in pain, but it didn't hurt at all, it's only mildly sore now.

rain delay

friday afternoon is Lawn Day, so i work around the house with the trimmer, then start mowing, i'm mowing at an angle, which looks really good, i rotate 45 degrees each week, yanno. so nichole is making fun of me, taking pictures, as i make my way into the back yard, it starts raining. doesn't phase me, then a few stripes later, it starts really raining... so i mow my way into the garage, clean all the grass off me, go inside for about 10 minutes, then look out the window, it's sunny again... so back out to mowing, finish that up, then washed my car. kinda like some product "By Mennen", i washed that gray right offa my car, it's red again, and all is well.

escalator

I like an escalator because an escalator can never break. It can only become stairs. You would never see an "Escalator temporarily out-of-order" sign. Just "Escalator temporarily stairs. Sorry for the convenience." We apologize for the fact that you can still get up there.

laundry

i lean toward obsessive compulsive yanno, today i couldn't get my shirt tucked in quite right, or it wouldn't lay flat or something, it was bothering me... so later in the day, i went to the bathroom, and when i sat down on the seat (after thouroughly wiping it off) here comes a dryer sheet falling to the floor in front of me... it was a white shirt, i guess i never saw it.. it went for a ride downtown, the freeloader.

panhandler

a buddy took me to the blues game tonight, it was about 25 degrees outside.. of course, i left my coat in his car because i didn't want to carry it around during the game.. on the walk to savvis center, a guy, who smelled worse than the blues played that night, asked us if we had any spare money... i looked at him and thought, Hey, i'm also currently Cold, And out of Beer... Fend for yourself... then told him i didn't have any money, watched the horrible game and drank a few $7.50 not very cold draft beers...
